Dressing should be simple, not a struggle.

Getting dressed should be the easy part of the day. Our dressing aids take the bending, stretching and twisting out of putting on socks, tights, shoes, trousers and compression stockings — so you can dress yourself comfortably and independently. They are especially helpful if you have arthritis, back pain or limited flexibility, or are recovering from hip or knee surgery, when bending to your feet is painful or not allowed. Most are inexpensive, all qualify for VAT relief, and UK delivery is free on orders over £15.

Frequently asked questions

Which dressing aids help after a hip or knee replacement? After hip or knee surgery you are usually told not to bend past 90 degrees. A sock aid, a long-handled shoe horn, a reacher and a leg lifter together cover most dressing tasks without bending — many people buy them as a set. See our hip and knee recovery aids.

Are dressing aids easy to use one-handed? Many are, which makes them useful after a stroke too. Each product page explains how it is used.

Can I buy dressing aids VAT-free? Yes — if you are disabled or have a long-term illness you can usually buy VAT-free by completing the short declaration at checkout.

Dressing aids are part of our wider daily living aids range, alongside reachers and grabbers. Not sure what would help? Call our friendly UK team on 01531 635678 or email shop@helping-hand.com — we have been helping people stay independent since 1965.
